Spider Crafts for Kids

Easy to make, spooky, scary spider crafts for kids.

If you're looking for spider crafts for kids, why not try making these spooky, scary spiders? Just be careful where you leave them!

Chenille Stem Spider

First, try my Chenille Stem Spider:

You will need:

  • 5 Black chenille stems

  • Coloured card or foam for eyes (or wiggle eyes)

  • Scissors and glue

Here's how...

  1. Take four black chenille stems together in a bundle. Twist a fifth chenille stem tightly around the middle of the bundle to hold it together.

  2. Tying the chenille stems

  3. Then shape the ends of this fifth chenille stem into a circle to form the spider's head and twist the ends together, leaving about 2cm straight on each end.

  4. Turn these short ends into the circle and stick on eyes made from black and white card or foam or use wiggle eyes.

  5. Spread out the spider's 8 legs and bend them to form knees and ankles. Your spider will stand up on his own.

Spooky Spider

Now, for the second of my spider crafts for kids, try my Spooky Spider

You will need:

  • 2 Black chenille stems (approximately 30cm long)

  • Large black pompom

  • 2 Very small green pompoms, card or foam for eyes (or wiggle eyes)

  • Scissors and glue

Here's how...

  1. Cut each black chenille stem in half so that you have four 15cm lengths.

  2. Lay the lengths together in a bundle and twist a short piece of black chenille stem tightly around the middle of the bundle to hold it together. This will form the spider's eight legs.

  3. Glue the large black pompom (spider's body) to the centre of the bundle of stems so that the ends of the centre tie are safely set into the pompom.

  4. Spread the spider's legs out evenly around his body and bend the ends to form feet and ankles, so that your spider will stand up on his own.

  5. Stick on two very small pompoms for his eyes or cut two small circles for eyes from scraps of card or foam or attach wiggle eyes if you have them.
